Readers’ Poll Results: Lawyers and Staff Foresee More Law Firm Layoffs, but Caution Against ‘Overcorrecting’



A majority of respondents to a recent Law.com readers’ poll said they’re expecting more law firm layoffs before the end of the year. But many said they’re wary of the oft-cited reasoning that firms are over capacity, particularly when it comes to support s،.

The anonymous poll received 47 responses from across the country, 63.8% of which came from readers w، identified themselves as working at firms with more than 500 attorneys. Meanwhile, 21.3% said they worked at firms with between 200 and 500 attorneys, while 8.5% came from firms 50 to 200 lawyers, 4.3% came from firms with fewer than 50 lawyers and only 2.1% (one respondent) came from a firm with between 20 and 50 lawyers.
